The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man... what an enigma.

The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man is an example of the classic wolf in sheep's clothing trope. He may look so cute and so cuddly; but on the inside, he just so happens to be an incarnation of the ancient deity... Gozer The Gozerian!

Ever since his appearance in the original Ghostbusters film from 1984, he has appeared in numerous Ghostbusters adaptations, merchandise, and even other iconic pop-culture appearances. He has even became a character in JT Plushies and Yusuke and Da' Boys!.

So, question is, how did this guy come into existence? (other than human imagination, duh!) The creator of Ghostbusters, Dan Aykroyd, said that he wanted to make a character that "...seems harmless and puffy and cute—but given the right circumstances, everything can be turned black and become evil". And indeed, that just so happens to be true.

Let's face it... if you were a kid watching Ghostbusters, you'd think that he's just some misunderstand cooperate mascot, that is, until he destroys a church; then you really want him to kick the bucket! I think that's a good thing though. It allows the audience to root for the heroes for once, and it also allows them to realize just how evil he really is. Of course, his "badness" was toned down for the 1986 cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters. In that show, he was more of a good-guy, but he was still overly angry at everything.

So, here's the thing, ever since I found a plush of this guy that we received on Easter 2017, I really started to like this guy again. I liked the wolf-in-sheep's clothing vibe to him, and I like his overall simplistic appearance.

So, like all characters in the John Tvs fictional universe, this guy's personality had to changed... but not too drastically changed like the personality and overall character of Yusuke Kitagawa. In the John Tvs fictional universe, he is portrayed as rather grumpy and arrogant, but he is good whenever he needs to be. In JT Plushies, he is the best friend of Yusuke Kitagawa and he also beats up anybody who opposes Oddify, General 64, and the rest of their friends. In Yusuke and Da' Boys, he is still friends with Yusuke, but he is portrayed a little differently, being the father of Mr. Greedy and Mr. Blobby.

So, in conclusion, this guy just so happens to be one of our favorite characters. Although he might look friendly, he sure packs quite the punch, and he also does some really odd things... just like a kaiju! Hey filmmakers, do you think you could make Godzilla fight SpaceGodzilla with the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man in the mix? I think that would be awesome!
