Thanksgiving Holiday Specials from Cartoons

Ah, yes... Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving originated as a Christian religious holiday celebrating the progress of the Pilgrims, who suffered heavily through the ages, being rewarded with a feast from G-d. What a wonderful holiday that is, because it encourages people to be thankful for what they have. It allows people to enjoy life, and the miracles that it can bring.

And despite Thanksgiving being an iconic holiday, it isn't really touched upon in animation as much as let's say... Christmas or Halloween. Why? Well, because Thanksgiving is really only an American holiday, despite different forms of it being celebrated worldwide.

Today, we're going to be mentioning some notable Thanksgiving specials from Cartoons. If you want to see some others, here's a list.

The first cartoon Thanksgiving special we're going to cover is The Dressing from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

If you don't know what Aqua Teen Hunger Force is, it's a really odd but funny show about "superheroes", Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad, as they go around doing very abnormal things.

Anyways, this episode is great because it has Space Ghost in the cold opening, but the main focus of this episode is The Turkatron, a strange turkey robot that tells dystopian stories about turkeys and robots taking over Earth, but then is revealed to be a malfunctioning Tom Turkey toy.

Another good Thanksgiving special would be Helen Keller: The Musical! from South Park.

South Park is known for having its fair share of Thanksgiving specials, but this one has a character that would not even be seen in promotional material, unlike Starvin' Marvin, Gobbles.

Gobbles is a crippled turkey, who became the pet of Timmy Burch, who was also introduced in Season 4 as a one-time character.

This episode is well-remembered by the South Park community, thanks to Gobbles. People wanted him back so badly, that we even made a powerpoint about it.

Aside from that, though, even Cartoon Network's MAD had a Thanksgiving episode.

Regardless, even if there is a lack of Thanksgiving episodes in cartoons, there will always be Charlie Brown.
